Jobs & Volunteer Opportunities Join Us: Walk into History Brick ProgramThe Walk into History Program began in 2005 to fund beautification of the landscape in the Oregon Shortline Historic District, starting with the area surrounding the 1908 Union Pacific Depot which houses the Yellowstone Historic Center Museum. These pictures show the results this program has already had in renovating the depot grounds. Over 250 bricks have already been installed in the Walk into History, but room remains for many more.

How does this work? Participants in the program purchase a brick that is engraved with a personal message of their choice. Two brick sizes are available: the 4" x 8" size is $50 while the 8" X 8" size is $75. Once each year, usually at the end of June or beginning of July, bricks ordered the previous year are installed on the pathway in front of the museum. How do I order bricks for this program? You may use this online order form, pick up a hard copy at the Museum, or contact us via phone or email if you have additional questions. You may choose either a large or a small brick, depending on how much text you want. Each rectangle represents one brick. Your inscription for each brick must fit into one rectangle, with one character per dashed line, up to a maximum of 14 characters per line. A character is defined as a letter, number, blank space, hyphen, ampersand, comma, apostrophe, exclamation point, or period. Do not use any other punctuation marks or special characters. Please be sure to write legibly or type your inscription.
When will I be able to see my brick in front of the Museum? If you order a brick before April 15, 2012, it will be installed in late June/early July 2012. Bricks ordered after April 15, 2012 will be installed the following year. Note: If enough brick orders are placed throughout the summer it is possible that a brick ordered after April 15, 2012, might be installed later in the summer. We cannot guarantee this. Why does it take so long from the time I order my brick until it’s installed? To get a large enough quantity, brick orders are only placed once a year. Due to the climate in When will my donation be used for outside beautification? Proceeds from this program are earmarked for the beautification of the grounds of the Union Pacific depot. As soon as you make your donation it will be used for this purpose. How can I get confirmation that my brick has been ordered? If you provide an email address on the form, we will email you a confirmation upon ordering your brick. We will ask you then to confirm the inscription on your brick and provide corrections if needed. YHC will not share any of your contact information, including your email address and phone number. What happens if my inscription is wrong or misspelled? This does happen occasionally. Sometimes bricks get chipped or cracked in the shipping process. If there is a problem with your brick, you will be notified immediately. Every effort will be made to obtain and install your replacement brick as quickly as possible, in most cases before the end of the current installation year. This is why it is so important that you fill out your inscription and contact information as legibly as possible and confirm the inscription by email. Example of 4" x 8" Bricks
